I like to create sites in a way that allows them to be easily kept up to date by people who are not at all expert in web technology. This way you can keep control without always having to turn to a web specialist.

You keep control
I tend to create websites inside what’s called a “content management system”. This allows you, or your colleagues, to log in and make changes or add content easily at any time.A bonus is that you don't have to keep the website files on your own PC as you simply log in to a "back end" of your website, using any browser, and edit your pages. (Or of course you can ask me to take in changes, or indeed write your copy to a clear brief. Up to you.)
Getting more technical
I can install and work with many systems, but my favoured software is "CMS Made Simple" because it is “open source”, highly expandable, and is supported by an active and growing community of developers. At the same time, it is much less baffling for editors and contributors than the rest.(I also develop web applications, such as fix-a-time.com. I usually write in python or php and use Django or Zope. If you don’t know what these are, I suggest you keep it that way.)
